The Optima Batteries Ultimate Streetcar series invades Bowling Green
One of the most popular stops every year on the Optima Batteries Search for the Ultimate Streetcar series is the racetrack at the NCM Motorsports Park. The event sells out early every year with a significant wait-list.
This means the competition is high at one of America’s premier club racetracks. It’s also no surprise to see plenty of Corvettes, all of which are built just over the highway at the Corvette plant. The field saw a C2, a C4, and many C5’s, C6’s, and C7’s. There was also a brand new ZR1 being campaigned alongside a new Grand Sport of the same color!
Day-1: The Detroit Speed and Engineering Autocross
The Optima/USCA crew always strives to design the best autocross courses in the country, but this one was something special. More than one seasoned competitor was overheard saying that this was the best autocross course they had ever driven. It had a great flow to it with very few choke points that would throw a driver off their line.
With a very fast and diverse field of competitors, the Corvettes had more than their fair share of competition. The GT and GTV classes were stacked with Chevys, Fords, Pontiacs, and even a Rambler American!
